  1. Yes it is possible, that's what I do, I have an AOC 2216Vw...

First of all you need your monitor to be HDCP... ( if its not, then its not possible as the Ps3 has some kind of protection content which means that if your monitor isn't HDCP, then the screen would go blank and nothing would appear except for "no signal found )

If your monitor doesn't have a high resolution, then the picture quality won't look that great.

You need a HDMI>HDMI cable if your monitor has HDMI input.

You need a DVI>HDMI cable if your monitor has DVI input. DVI doesn't carry sounds so you need to run the sounds seperately.

  2. Yes, it is, obviously if you have an LCD PC monitor that doesn't have a native resolution of 720p or 1080p then the picture probably won't look that good.

The thing that matters is whether you have the right connections; if you have a monitor with a HDMI socket then that would be best, just get a normal HDMI lead and connect that from the HDMI socket on your PS3 to the one on your monitor. If you only have a DVI socket on your monitor then get a HDMI to DVI cable.

If you only have a VGA socket on your monitor then there's a problem; HDMI and DVI are both digital, whereas VGA is analogue, and as far as i know (Without an expensive converter box) sending a digital signal to an analogue socket just won't work.
