  1. It can be done, but Bluetooth isn't the way.

You can do it with regulat 802.11 much easier. Bluetooth is slow, and has very limited range compared to 802.11. The parts you need to create this will set you back a total of $100, less if you already have a router.

Get a wireless router and a usb 802.11 tooth. Plug the usb tooth in to the old box, and connect it up to the network.

Make sure the computer has a unique name, and that you have its workgroup or domain set to the same as your desktop. Set it up to allow Remote Desktop Connection (i forget exactly how, but just type remote desktop in the help menu)

Hook it up to your theater the way you want to.

On the desktop go to i think it's Start> ALL Programs > Communications > Remote Desktop >

and enter the name of the computer controlling the theater.

    Viola!

  2. Bluetooth is limited on range and speed, so I don't know if it will be able to handle the intense bandwidth required for remote acess and video streaming.  Bluetooth range is rated at 10 meters (30').

I think you would be better to look at a wireless network.  You would need a router (near one computer) and a adapter card (USB, PCI, PCMCIA) on the other computer.  This could also share your internet connection.  Check out Linksys.com for good wireless networking hardware.

After you have the wireless network you can just use Remote Desktop or Remote Assistance to control 1 pc from another.  These  are built in Windows functions.
