hi i was just wondering what would happen to a graphics card if the 6 pin power connector came off while ur playing games i was just wondering 10 points to anyone

  1. the 6pin power connector has been invented for graphics cards that are using more than 75W. 75W is the limit that a PCIe x16 slot can provide.

    if this 6pin connector come off while the PC is running, the graphics card will either damage the mobo or it will stop working immediately.


  2. Chances are the card would stop working.  Either it would overheat and possibly fry or it may just shut off.

    If the power connector came off it could also cause damage to other components of your system.  It could damage the PCI-E slot in the motherboard or the whole entire board all together.  It may also damage your power supply, which in turn could damage virtually every part of your system.

    One thing is for certain, you don't want it to fall out.

  3. if the connector came off. your card would not work till you shut down, put the connector back and restarted.

    some cards have a alarm and that would sound real loud.

    it wouldnt be possible to just drop out, they clip into place. they would only drop out if you pulled it out.

    (seriously dont pull it out, even to see what happens)
