Pcos--ttc---soy & femara...

This was my 3rd cycle on femara. I was taking it cd5-9. Ovulating but NO bfp. My cycles are 30 days to the day. I heard something about soy being really good when ttc. So I started taking 40 mg of soy a day on about cd2 until this morning which is cd21. This afternoon I got my period!!! I went on to PCOS site to inquire why this might have happened, the only answer I got was" never mix soy with femara or clomid" So now I'm freaking out! Can anyone explain this situation please??? How should I take it? And am I in any danger?

Thanks!!

  1. Don't really know to much about fertility drugs but soy can actually decrease fertility which i assume is not what your trying to do...Stop the soy & drink water while adding a lil exercise would be more benefical with conception..I have enclosed a site for you to check out...http://www.babyhopes.com/articles/soy.ht...

If for any reason you are experiencing fertility problems, it certainly is a good idea to limit soy in your diet to rule out any possibilities of its effect on your fertility

  2. def. check with your doctor before taking soy just to be on the safe side, i also find this:

    http://www.fertilityties.com/post/show/s...

you can find out more info there and find others going through PCOS< good luck and babydust!!

  3. You are not in any danger, at least not from the soy.  It is not a direct interaction with the Clomid or Femara, it is the fact that they do opposing things to your body and cancel each other out to some degree.  The reason you want to take Clomid or Femara, particularly with PCOS, is for their anti-estrogen effects.  Soy has a pro-estrogen effect, and is generally not recommended for TTC except in special situations where a small estrogen boost may help.  The problem with the herbal and natural cures people prescribe for themselves is they often only know that it works for someone, not necessarily that it will work for them or their diagnosis.  I fell into that trap with Vitex and ended up worse off than I was before.  So I lost a month, and so did you.  The important thing is to learn from the experience and always clear any supplement you are thinking of taking with your RE first.  Your dizziness could be due to a lot of different things.  If it persists, you should see your doctor.
