i am about to graduate with a four year degree from Texas State University majoring in Archaeology. I stumbled upon the Peace corp. website and loved the whole idea of it!! i have always wondered about it. I love the idea of traveling and experiencing new cultures, i LOVE volunteering and i could care less about the whole money aspect of it. has anyone had any experience in the Peace Corp, and or know of somewones experience.

  1. I did NOT do Peace Corp after college, and I've regretted that ever since.  This is the time in your life when you have the most choice, and the least obligations.  This could be your ONLY opportunity to do something like this.  Hopefully not, but in my case it was.  Life happens, and it begins to speed up exponentially after college - things tend to get complicated.  Now is your time - and it sounds like you have a big heart.  I say - DO IT!  A friend of mine LOVED her time as a missionary.  I'm not religious, but I envy the experience of immersing in a totally new environment with interesting people.  Plus, I know the joy that comes from even small bits of volunteering, so the kind of work you could do with Peace Corp must be immensely rewarding.  I think you already know what you want, and I think you should ABSOLUTELY sign up.  You'll probably not regret doing it, but I'm SURE you'd regret NOT doing it.

  2. I was a Peace Corps Volunteer many years ago. My daughter is one now.

It was the best decision I ever made.
