OK I'm sort of looking for an answer from somebody with experience in this but...

Let's say that I'm 18, I have graduated high school and I speak French fairly well, and am therefore considered bi-lingual. I have high standardized test scores and college degree or not, I'm no moron. Will the peace corps. accept me as a volunteer?

  1. It's a big exploitation, you're not paid to do important work

look into USAID or something like that rather than not getting paid

  2. I was a PCV years ago. My daughter is one now.

Intelligence and good intentions are not enough. You also need a skill that a host country has asked for. Realistically, that means a college degree. 92% of all PCV's have one. If you were president of your county 4-H and helped manage the family farm from the time you were 12, you could get an invitation with just a high school diploma. (The youngest volunteer on record was 19, and had done just that.)
