Question:

Peace Lily House Plant.... Why no flowers? Can anyone shed any light as to why?

Hi wondering if any one can help. I bought a peace lily in flower 6 yrs ago now and it hasn't flowered since?

It appears to be in really good health and i have re-potted twice since having it. The leaves are healthy dark green and quite pert. Apart from no flowers the actual plant seems really happy/healthy. Ive read many a time that these plants can flower most of the year through so what am i doing wrong/not doing?

Thanks for any help/answers... would be lovely to see it flower again this decade! :-)

  2. I have Peace Lily in my house and it flowers almost all over the time.

How did you re-pot your Peace Lily?  In my experience, I cut the outer part of the root-ball (without crushing root ball) around 1 cm and add new medium into the pot.  Normally around 2 weeks after re-potting my plant will start to make flower.

Where do you put your plant?  I keep my plant inside my house (in the living room) where it is shady, but once in two days -when the weather is fine- I put my plant out side to get enough sunlight.  Not direct sunlight and only in morning time.

In addition, I gave slow-released fertilizer to my plant.

    Hope it's help =)

  3. I used to work in a garden centre and I still dont really have a definitive answer! make sure you keep it fed, and plants hate getting waterlogged. But, they seem to like getting allowed to droop at bit now and then (not nearly dead though!)

If its pot is ok for now then try to leave it for a bit as repotting can damage/disturb them, but if it is big the pot might be too small and not allowing correct growth?

  4. Sounds like you have been feeding it a high nitrogen fertilizer/food such as all purpose miracle grow..this will give all nice green healthy leaves and no blooms or flowers..they need a high phosphrus and pottasium based fertilizer with next to no nitrogen to bloom
