Question:

Peahen acting strange?

My family and I have two peafowls, one male and one female, the female is acting really strange right now, she's making that honking sound repeatedly right now and when my dog got near their coop(?), she tried to attack him, she's also passing left to right over and over again. She's also at her egg-laying(sp?) time so maybe that's why? But I don't really know.

Oh and a little extra question. How long do peahens have to incubate their eggs until they finally hatch?

  1. Yes your Peahen is become broody and is ready to lay, they take between 28-31 days for their eggs to hatch.

They normally lay between 4-8 eggs

If you want her to hatch the eggs keep your dog away from her nest as she will become very protective and will attack and injure your dog and your dog may attack in retaliation.
