  1. Butter Substitutions:

margarine   (This has an inferior flavor, makes bread crusts tougher and   cookies softer, and may make cookies more difficult to shape.  Avoid using it in flaky pastries.)

OR shortening   (This has an inferior flavor, and compared to butter it makes cookies crunchier and breads crusts softer.

OR lard   (This has an inferior flavor, but it makes flakier pastries than butter. Some cooks mix lard with butter to strike a balance between flavor and flakiness.  Substitute four parts lard for every five parts butter called for in recipe.)  See also: fat  (for low-fat or no-fat substitutions)

  2. As above. However, I like your logic. It's a very good idea, The fact that it wouldn't work is purely academic. :-)

  3. yes thats corect try it once if it tastes good then next time also use peanut butter only instead of normal butter or u can try sample take little and put peanut butter if it tastes good  u use it simple

  4. thats creative but however that won't work and your chocolate chip cookies will not taste like chocolate chip cookies see butter is a leavening agent.  when it is combined with sugar in the recipe it helps the cookie rise in the oven.

  5. That will work just fine though your cookies will taste like chocolate chip peanut butter cookies.  Also, they may not be as chewy. Butter makes cookies chewy.  Still I would experiment with it.  I take a lot of liberties with many things. How are you going to know if you don't try???

  6. i dont think it'll work.

  7. Actually, butter is used to make the cookies softer and less likely to stick to the pan. Peanut butter would not be a very good substitution because it's used more for flavor...

Do you have any shortening? How about some vegetable oil? Usually a little veg. oil would be a good substitution if you don't have any crisco. Try looking up a recipe online that does not use butter... Good luck and happy baking!

  8. Those are very odd cookies because peanut butter and normal butter have completely different tastes. I suggest you should go buy some butter because frankly I don't see this experiment becoming a success. You can try it on two cookies to see if your kids like it though if they do then go ahead and make a whole batch.Hope this is good enough for best answer.

    Hope This Helps,

    Leo

  9. Try it, instead of using the chocolate chip recipe though, use a peanut butter cookie recipe, and add chocolate chips to it.
