Great Britain’s manager, Stuart Pearce has gone on to reveal that there has been no political pressure on him, following his decision to snub http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Beckham-c10432 from the football squad.
It was previously believed that the veteran midfielder would go on and be a part of the eighteen man Olympic squad. However, Pearce went on to reveal that the midfielder did not make the cut.
It was initially believed that perhaps the manager did so, due to some political pressure, as Beckham was a part of some other plans for the Olympics.
However, Pearce has gone on to confirm that, there was no such pressure and it was his decision on footballing basis to opt against selecting the midfielder.
Pearce went on to call up Micah Richards instead of Beckham, as he looked to add some defensive cover to the team.
“From the offset, when I sat down with the [FA] chairman http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Bernstein, some time before Christmas, he offered me the opportunity to pick the squad," he told reporters.

"If at that stage he had said to me that certain individuals would have to be included I certainly wouldn't do that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684.

"I don't know any manager worth their salt who would have.

"Right through this process I have had carte blanche to pick whatever players I regard as best."
Each Olympic squad is allowed to have three players over the age of twenty three, who can be a part of the team. Keeping up to date with those plans, Pearce has gone on to name http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Micah-Richards-c25259 as the three senior members of his
football team.
Out of the three, it is believed that Bellamy or Giggs will be handed the captains armband, with Giggs being the favourite to end up coming out on top in that selection race.
At the same time, it is safe to assume that we have not seen the last of Beckham. With him playing a crucial role in bringing the Olympics to London, he is going to end up being a part of the event in one way or another.
