Stuart Pearce has gone on to insist that he could still end up picking http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Wilshere-c17463 as a member of his great Britain team, despite the Arsenal player being injured for the whole season.
Arsenal’s manager, Arsene Wenger went on to reveal that Wilshere would miss out on the entire Premier League season, since he failed to recover from his injury in time to play for the team.
At the same time, the manager went on to insist that it would be the worst possible idea for the player to represent Great Britain in the Olympics.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international went on to suffer an ankle injury in a pre season game and since then, he has been going through an extensive rehabilitation process.
The midfielder is not going to be making an appearance in the Euro 2012, but should he be fit for the Olympics, it seems like Pearce might force him to represent the country.
When talking about his selection choices and the possibility of picking Wilshere to represent England in the Olympic squad, Pearce is quoted to have said: “We’re in constant contact with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and we’ll see how this one rides”
“But, will any manager get a veto over who I select? Of course not”
"We would obviously let them know if their players are in contention and the dates they would need to be made available.”
He then went on to insist that it was a once in a life time opportunity for him to represent his country and that it would be wrong of Wenger to deny him this chance.
“But we’re talking about Great Britain here. The Olympic Games. If you strip it down solely to the players, this is an opportunity of a lifetime.”
He then ended by stating that he wouldn’t want to get into a legal battle over using the player and that he wouldn’t let him miss any of Arsenal’s games in the coming season due to his participation.
“I wouldn’t want to get into a legal battle, but we’re not talking about taking players away for a whole season. We’re not even asking them to miss a competitive match.”
