Great Britain’s manager, Stuart Pearce has gone on to praise his team, following them securing a spot for themselves in the quarter final stage of the competition.

Pearce has been able to get the team together and help them operate as a unit, this has not only helped the squad progress, but has also helped boost individual performances from most of the players.
When talking about the game and how well they performed in the match, Pearce is reported to have said: "When you play anyone in a situation where it is them or us in the last group game, for all intents and purposes, it was a knockout really.”
"I thought we played some outstanding football, especially in the first half. The second half we tired slightly and they came into the game which was to be expected but I think overall we are delighted that we beat a very good Uruguay side 1-0.”
"They’ve got some outstanding players especially in the defensive half of their team. We kept a clean sheet. We’ll have a look and a check to see if everyone is okay for the next game."
Great Britain have been putting on some rather impressive displays over the course of the tournament so far. The team has been performing as a unit and surprisingly, there haven’t been any major problems in the locker room so far.
Pearce seems to have surprised everyone with the work that he has done with the team and should he continue to help the team move forward, a podium finish is confirmed for the squad.
The team wasn’t regarded as one of the favourites to win a medal, but with the progress and determination that they have shown, many of their critics have gone on to eat their words.
Nonetheless, in order for the team to make sure that they don’t go home empty handed, they are going to have to maintain their level of performances in the coming games.
