Peddlers Cross set to make a return in horseracing
Peddlers Cross is set to make a comeback into horseracing after staying out of action for almost one year. He will make his appearance in the jumper’s bumper at Kempton in England on Friday, January 25, 2013.
The eight-year-old gelding was previously seen in action way back in March last year. He was rated as the favourite to succeed back then, but disappointed his team with a dismal run. He was unable to make an impression in his opponents and finished way down
in eight place overall.
However, his fans will be hoping some better performances from him in the upcoming events. He has the ability to dominate the proceedings, but might be a touch rusty compared to most of his rivals.
Despite that, his trainer Donald McCain believes that things will move into a positive direction for his challenger and he will definitely cause problems for his opponents in the race at Kempton.
“He did have the option of starting off in the Cleeve Hurdle over three miles at the weekend but that would really have only come about if there was nothing else suitable. With Doncaster's meeting on Saturday in the balance, Kempton looked the best place
to go,” said McCain in his Betfair blog.
Since there has been a lot of snowfall in the United Kingdom during this winter, many races have been abandoned by the organisers. Therefore, the runners don’t have too many options at the moment. Due to this, Peddlers Cross will be making his comeback at
Kempton.
McCain went onto say, “He's had a long time off and has had a few niggles so we are hoping to give him a nice experience on his return to racing. He'll get a good surface to race on, he's in good order at home and it's time to crack on with him.”
However, the veteran trainer did not reveal any future plans for Peddlers Cross, saying that he will decide that when the time arrives.
Overall, the Irish challenger has participated in a total of 13 races, winning nine of them whereas finished as a runner up on a couple of times. It will be interesting to see whether he manages to deliver results with such dominance or not.
