Question:

Pedigree question for those familiar with Quarter and Paint halter peds...?

I have a mare that I was planning to breed lease out to someone, but ultimately changed my mind and decided to keep her at home. But while I had the ad up at www.dreamhorse.com, the response that I got was tremendous, and everyone said that it was because of her pedigree, which I think is great, but I didn't really think warranted the amount of and type of responses that I got. She is by Temons Hard To Beat (Temon x Silent Request) and her dam is a mare named Lenas Kid Bonanza (Dutch Bonanza by Pute Cee Bonanza x Kidalena out of Jackalena).

The mare is 16.2 hh and about 1400 lbs, a real looker, but no one even saw a pic of her!

Is she really as nice as all that? Thanks in advance!

  1. I think the bloodlines sound familiar, although I don't follow the Paints as closely as the Quarter Horses, and I certainly know nothing about Halter horses, as I do Hunters. But the names are familiar, which means something, at least.

I've got to say, though, that if your horse weighs in at 1,400 lbs, that's a health hazard. At 16.2, a healthy weight would be 1,200 at max, especially when Stock horses like yours tend to have size 00 feet. Carrying that extra weight puts a lot of stress on their tendons, which in turn affects their performance.
