Pedro Alvarez helps Pittsburgh Pirates hammer New York Mets 10-6 – MLB Recap
Pittsburgh Pirates hammered the New York Mets 10-6 in the second game of their four-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, September 25 at Citi Field in New York City.
“It was dramatic," Pirates' manager Clint Hurdle said about his team’s performance.
Third baseman Pedro Alvarez played well and proved one of the winning factors for the Pirates. He scored one run and smashed one hit along with four RBIs on his persistent .475 slugging percentage.
"Any time I can hit a home run at home, it's always special, Every time I looked up, I saw someone else," Alvarez said.
Left fielder Alex Presley also showed his valour as he scored two runs and smashed two hits on his five at-bats. He played enormously well and earned a good win for his team on his consistent .403 slugging percentage.
Second baseman Josh Harrison scored two runs and smashed two hits along with two RBIs on his five at-bats as also maintained his slugging percentage at .370.
Right fielder Garrett Jones batted four times and scored one run and smashed two hits along with three RBIs with his exceptional .515 slugging percentage.
Along with batters, the Pirates' pitchers also showed great consistency and helped them win against the Mets.
Starter Wandy Rodriguez pitched six innings and received three runs and four hits along with two homers. He struck-out three and maintained his ERA at 3.79 with great precision.
Chris Resop tossed 0.1 innings and allowed two runs and three hits on his consistent 4.02 ERA.
On the other hand, the Mets, who have been playing well in the last couple of games, could not maintain their thrust in this particular game and lost with bitter humiliation.
"I'm not comfortable talking about something individual like this when we've had our struggles in the second half, not having done what all of us thought we were capable of doing, But I'll enjoy it at some point. Probably not tonight," David Wright said.
Their pitchers and hitters disappointed with a poor performance which proved disastrous for the Mets as they lost the game with a four-run deficit.
