Pedro Leon on good terms with Jose Mourinho
Real Madrid winger Pedro Leon has insisted that there are no problems between him and manager Jose Mourinho.
Pedro, who signed for Real this summer, made a substitute appearance in Real's frustrating goalless draw against Levante in September, forcing a good save from Manolo Reina in what many thought was an inspired display by the player.
But Mourinho, apparently disappointed with the Spaniard's performance in the game, dropped his winger for the subsequent Champions League tie against Auxerre and for Real's 6–1 thrashing of Deportivo La Coruna in La Liga.
Despite reports of a rift between the Real manager and the former Getafe player after Mourinho said the 23-year-old was "...no Zinedine Zidane," Pedro has said he enjoys a constructive relationship with his boss.
"Mourinho is in charge. We have no problem between us. The reasons why I stayed out of the squad in the last two games were that I did not do what was ordered of me in the match versus Levante. It did not hurt when the coach said I was neither [Diego] Maradona
nor Zinedine Zidane. We talked and everything is solved. I know that the coach trusts in me and I will continue working to help the team."
Will focus on improving for Real
Pedro has two league appearances to his name this season. As the media's speculation over the reasons for his omission from the Real squad subsides, the free-kick specialist said he wants to focus fully on regaining his form for the team.
"The reasons why I have not played are sporting-based. What we spoke about remains between Mourinho and me. I see no punishment. The important thing is that Real Madrid are in a good dynamic, and winning matches. The competition is great and right now I
just want peace to continue improving."
Ahead of this weekend's trip to Malaga, Real are third in the La Liga table on 14 points, two short of leaders Valencia.
