Pedro Oliveira seizes Men’s 200m butterfly gold – USA Swimming Sectionals, Greensboro
Pedro Oliveira of CARD-KY seized gold medal of the Men’s 200m butterfly on day one of the 2012 USA Swimming Sectionals in Greensboro on Thursday, July 12.
The 24-year-old Oliveira smothered his challengers over the finishing end as he cruised his way towards the finishing end for gold medal. He remained dominant over his opponents throughout and showed his urgency towards the finishing end for the title of
the event.
With his nerve-wrecking pace in the 200m discipline, Oliveira paved his way to the medal rostrum for gold medal as he tapped the wall with a wonderful timing of 2 minutes and 01.64 seconds.
The champion was chased by John Newell of NSS-NC, who stayed 0.04 seconds apart and earned silver medal of the discipline with a nice effort of 2 minutes and 01.68 seconds.
Similarly, Newell was followed by Tom Luchsinger of Three Village-MR, who stayed one and a half body length behind and made his way to the victory stand for bronze medal by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 02.93 seconds.
The bronze medallist was traced by Lucas Gerotto of WA-KY, who stayed almost four body lengths apart and hit the finishing blockade with the timing of 2 minutes and 06.54 seconds for fourth position.
Fifth finest spot of the race was secured by Nate Bond of Lakeside-KY, who was just an inch slower from his former finisher and hit the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 06.58 seconds.
The 15-year-old Thomas Bilden of Duke Aquatics-NC, who stayed 0.30 seconds apart and made his way to the finishing end by posting a time of 2 minutes and 06.88 seconds.
Seventh position of the event was obtained by Cole Buese of Lakeside-KY, who was one and a half body length apart and clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 08.83 seconds.
Buese was trailed by Dylan Kase of Una BUZZ-GA, who remained two body lengths apart and posted an effort of 2 minutes and 10.75 seconds for eighth position.
In addition, Oliveira was delighted with his notable accomplishment in the 200m event after the session.
