Since the Copa del Rey final will be Guardiola’s last game in charge of the Catalan giants, Pedro Rodriguez took out time to thank the Catalan mentor before the game.
One of the players who really got off to a great start at the Nou Camp was Pedro Rodriguez.
The Spanish winger was never considered to take the first-team position in La Blaugrana, but it was Josep Guardiola who had confidence in the youngster and gave him the opportunity to showcase his abilities on the ball and on the pitch.
Pedro Rodriguez, just like most of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 first-team players, is a graduate of La Masia. With so many talented players being groomed every day, Pedro getting a chance in the first team never looked like a possibility.
In fact, there were rumours about Pedro Rodriguez leaving on a loan to a Premier League club. However, Josep Guardiola stepped up and took responsibility of the youngster, gave him a chance in his team and it was all good for the Spaniard from there on.
Pedro Rodriguez became an integral part of Barcelona front three and formed the famous combo known as the “MVP”, which means Messi, Villa and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pedro-c29582.
However, this season he was rarely given a chance in the first team. It was mainly because of injury crises and also because of the competition in the first team.
Despite being benched for most of the season, Pedro Rodriguez has taken out time to thank the departing Catalan mentor, who helped him become what he is today.
While addressing the press, Pedro said:
“Pep has given his all for the team. He has changed my life.”
“These have been very long years with a lot of games. It has been very tiresome. He needs the rest and deserves it.”
With Josep Guardiola leaving the club after the game against Bilbao, it will be Tito Vilanova who will take charge of the first-team affairs at the Nou Camp.
The players want to give a good departing gift to the Catalan mentor, and want to win one last title with Guardiola as they play in the Copa del Rey final on 25th of May.
