Pedro The Great and Cristoforo Colombo to do trainer, Aidan O’Brien proud in the Dubai Duty Free Full Of Surprises Railway Stakes
The two most prominent entries for the Group 2 Dubai Duty Free Full Of Surprises Railway Stakes are from the stables of the hall mark trainer, Aidan O’Brien. The stable mates will battle out the six furlong distance at Curragh on Friday, 30th June. Contesting for the €57,150 prize money are five other two-year-old runners.
Both the juveniles are lightly raced with Cristoforo Colombo backed by 8 to 11 odds and Pedro The Great supported by 5 to 2.
Cristoforo Colombo, Henrythenavigator’s two-year-old bay colt out of mare, La Traviata, has been active twice during the new season. He cleared his maiden at the very first opportunity put forth on 20th May, 2012 in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden at Navan over six furlongs.
The two-year-old was paired with Joseph O’Brien for the race and the two won by the margin of one and a half lengths.
His next stop was not in a listed race or a handicap as the Mrs. John Magnier owned straight away went into the graded company in the very next chance. He ended third in the Group 2 Coventry Stakes on 19th June, 2012 at the Ascot over six furlongs.
Today he is racing for a straight second time at the same benchmark and will be riding with the stable jockey, Joseph O’Brien.
The other representative for the highly accomplished trainer is Pedro The Great, Henrythenavigator’s two-year-old bay colt out of mare, Glatisant.
His career debut on 4th June, 2012 resulted in a failure as he ended fifth in the Alfred Nobel Rochestown Stakes (Listed Race) (Colts & Geldings) at Naas over six furlongs.
Making the most out of the chance and coming clean with the expectations was the favourite winner, Dawn Approach.
The American colt then went full swing in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden on 21st June, 2012 at Leopardstown over six furlongs and claimed it as the evening’s favourite with a 4 ¼ lengths’ margin.
He is getting the lucky chance of participation in a graded event which many stay deprived of for a long time even after clearing the maiden.
