Pedro de la Rosa admits HRT ‘worst’ team for 2012 season – Formula 1 news
Pedro de la Rosa says that he is not in any fear to accept that he will be driving the worst car of the upcoming 2012 Formula 1 season starting at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia on March 18, 2012.
De la Rosa has not actually been behind the wheels of HRT’s new car F112, so far. Nevertheless, he said that he was not afraid at all for the forthcoming season while he said, “We will have a difficult year.”
Hispania Racing Team could not be able to test run during the pre-season testing due to issues in the new car. However, during the filming day de la Rosa said that no major problems had been faced by the team which proved important for the team for making
the improvements and the significant preparations for the forthcoming season.
Moreover, Narain Karthikeyan said with certainty that the new car was an enhanced form of the last year’s car F111 after he made the test run at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona.
The veteran Spaniard who had been in Arrows, Jaguar and Sauber while he remained McLaren’s test driver for many years before joining HRT, said that it would be very interesting to know that there had been many changes in the team’s structure before the season-opener.
“It will also be interesting because the team is 80 per cent new,” said de la Rosa.
De le Rosa said that the team should not feel any fear in admitting that they had the most awful car for the subsequent season. Moreover, he stated that their goal was to perform well during the race and to finish the race with reducing the gap to the pole
positions.
“We should not be afraid to admit that we are the worst, but we must have the ambition to not stay that way,” he told Antena 3 television. “Our goal is to finish races, stop being the last across the line and to grow, trying to close the gap to pole position.”
Furthermore, de la Rosa said that the team were setting up bodywork which they would send to Australia while he would leave for the Melbourne pitlane on Monday.
