Pedro de la Rosa gunning for an improved performance at Valencia – Formula 1 news
For Pedro de la Rosa the European Grand Prix in Valencia is going to be his second home Grand Prix for the 2012 season.
De la Rosa will hope have a better finish at the coming Grand Prix than he did in the recently concluded Canadian GP where the HRT driver failed to complete the race.
De la Rosa started the race competitively as he got ahead of both the Marussias before excessive braking wear got in the way and he had to retire.
“Just like in Barcelona, I'm really looking forward to racing in front of our home fans in Valencia,” said De la Rosa. “At the Valencia Street Circuit we will encounter high air and track temperatures so the brakes will be put through their paces once again,
but we're confident we can make the necessary modifications to overcome the problems we experienced in Canada.”
Valencia street circuit has long straights but overtaking is not the easiest thing at the venue. The high-downforce is another factor that makes the track difficult. De la Rosa believes that HRT has the potential to do well at Valencia even though the track
does not suit their car as much as they would like it to. There are lot of slow corners and braking areas which is a good thing for them. The team is pumped up and wants to perform well for the fans and show them consistency in their performances.
His teammate Narain Karthikeyan the first ever Indian driver in Formula 1 also said the team was looking forward to Valencia. Karthikeyan was not able to finish the race in Canada. He said that they showed good promise in Canada but was not able to fulfil
it, and that is why Valencia will be a good opportunity for them to show the fans how much they have progressed in the season.
“Yes the walls are close but the adrenaline factor isn't close to Monaco or even Montreal. But on the back of the promise we showed in Canada, I'm looking forward to the race and hopefully we'll have a chance to build on it this time,” said Karthikeyan.
