Pedro de la Rosa not expecting McLaren to hire him again – Formula 1 news
Pedro de la Rosa, who drove for HRT during the 2012 F1 season, has stated that he does not expect McLaren to hire him again neither does he deserve it.
“One must know how to move on and look forward, but it is true that I am a realist and everything that has happened has been very unpleasant for everyone who works at HRT,” he told Spain's Marca newspaper, “There are very few years in my career that I've
eaten grapes knowing what I was going to do next year. So it's hard, but it's normal.  I took a road and I live with my decision, so I'm not going to expect McLaren to throw its doors open wide, especially because I've left them twice. I've been unfaithful
and so I must start from scratch.”
However, the Spanish driver has stated that he is confident that he will continue his career as a test or reserve driver; that a steering wheel will always remain in his hands but still there is no guarantee of anything.
About HRT not making it to the 2013 F1 season and only remaining in the business for three seasons, De la Rosa said that he does not know for sure but there is a feeling that the team is not going to continue. He added that the project was an ambitious one
and everyone tried their best. He said he did his best as well but admitted not as much as was required and also that in the end almost everyone is a bit responsible.
He said that the biggest disappointment was the fact that HRT could not gain popularity as a Spanish team in F1 unlike the success of the Spanish driver, Fernando Alonso.
De la Rosa had remained a test driver for McLaren from 2003 to 2009. By 2010 he was known as the fifth most expert test drivers in history of F1 in terms of his test days. He left the British team to join Sauber F1 for the 2010 F1 season. He returned back
to McLaren in 2011 as their test and reserve driver.
