Pedro de la Rosa says he is not expecting any call from McLaren – Formula 1 news
Former HRT driver, Pedro de la Rosa has said that he is not expecting any call from McLaren to join them as a reserve driver for the 2013 Formula 1 season.
De la Rosa was considered as the most respected test driver in the field before joining HRT in 2012 as the lead driver. However, the Madrid based team is no more in the sport.
Meanwhile, the Spaniard has been surrounded by many speculations that he may join the Woking based team as a test driver in the next season. But he has completely discharged all the rumours and asserted that he will not rejoin the British squad as he has
left them twice.
“No, that’s not true,” he told the Spanish sports newspaper Marca. “I took my road and I live with my decision, so I’m not going back to McLaren with their doors open wide, because I left twice.”
Although, he said that he is confidently looking forward to remain in F1 in the future as reserve driver. However, he asserted that he cannot say anything for sure at this point in time.
In addition, he said that he had the best working experience at McLaren in his career so far.
“I am confident that I will continue in F1 as a test or reserve driver, but there is no guarantee of anything. I especially liked working at McLaren — there can be no doubt,” he told f1news.ru.
Additionally, he didn’t show any inclination towards joining Sauber because the Swiss team puts the blame of bad results on their drivers rather than questioning the competency of the car.
“My least favourite team? Sauber. I did not like that they blamed every problem on the driver, not the car, which obviously did not have the speed,” he added.
At present, the future of the 41-year-old is uncertain in the sport, but he is trying his best to stay in F1 and is eagerly looking forward to secure a driving seat at some good team in the field. Let’s see whether he will be successful in achieving his
aim or not.
