Pedro de la Rosa sees hopes fading for a seat in 2011
Pedro de la Rosa is left with very little for being on the 2011 grid.  He hoped for getting a seat with HRT for the next season, but now even this seems less likely as almost all the other teams have already finalised their drivers’ line up.
The driver did not give a very satisfying 2010 season with BMW Sauber, and was removed from the team after 14 race weekends. All through this time, he was only able to score 6 points and as the season ended he only stood at 17th place in the drivers’
standings.
He drove the rest of the season with the new tyre supplier to Formula One, Pirelli as a test driver while was still hopeful for making his place on the grid for 2011.
While talking to the media earlier today the Spanish driver said, "I was very excited about Hispania because I really believed they had an ambitious sporting project.  But weeks have passed and I have not heard anything more, so I understand they have not
defined the project yet. There is really nothing with Hispania. I've always been very clear - with a serious and ambitious sporting project, I would love to be with them. But today, I don't know what their project is."
On the other hand, the HRT's team owner, Jose Ramon Carabante, stated that although he would like Pedro to be with the team, yet he does not think that it will be possible in the upcoming year. He further added that the Hispania squad is still in the process
of taking their final decision, which will be announced soon for next year’s driver line-up. However, he told that de la Rosa is a good friend of his and he believes that the 39-year-old deserves a good seat in the sport.
Despite of being in the series for the last 10 years, the driver does not have any sponsorship this year, which is one of the biggest reasons for not getting a seat with any good team.
The driver admitted that having no sponsorship means that he might not be able to save a place for himself although he still clinches tight to the little hope left. However, he stated that in case if he is not successful in getting any place as a main driver,
he might return to McLaren, where he has served seven years as a test racer. "I don't know what McLaren want because we have not talked seriously, but I would like to [go back] ... but now is not the time to think about it."
