With Spain facing Portugal in the semi-final stage of the competition, Pedro Rodriguez believes that neutralizing Ronaldo is not going to be a big problem for them.
Spain and Portugal have both managed to qualify for the semi-final stage of the competition, alongside http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 and Germany who will be playing the second semi-final.
Spain have managed to impress with time and even though they drew their first fixture against Italy, they were able to win the rest of their matches and qualified for the quarter-finals against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899.
After beating http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Xabi-Alonso-c37045 was enough for the defending champions to qualify for the semi-finals.
On the other hand, the journey for Portugal has not been the same. Portugal were drawn into the ‘group of death’ just like they were during the FIFA World Cup 2010.
However, just like they managed to qualify for the next round in the World Cup, they were able to repeat their heroics in the Euro 2012.
With Germany, Netherlands and Denmark in their group, Portugal were not really the favourites to qualify for the quarter-finals. However, with Ronaldo on their side, they were able to beat http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 to finish second in
their respective group.
Portugal then faced http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Czech-Republic-c2882 in the quarter-finals and even though the Czechs were hard to beat when the game started, a fine header from Ronaldo sealed the victory for the Portuguese.
Now Ronaldo and Co. are going to be facing a stern test in the shape of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011.
Even though Spain are favourites to qualify for the final of the tournament, many believe that Ronaldo might be that one person who can put an end to Spain’s legacy; just like he has helped Real Madrid put an end to Barcelona’s dominance in the Spanish La
Liga.
However, while speaking about the game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldo-c31734 is a phenomenal player, Spain have what it takes to stop him.
Pedro Rodriguez said:
“Cristiano is a fantastic player who’s in a great form and that must be taken into account. But I think we know how to neutralise him, so let’s wait and see what happens, we are very confident but it will be difficult,.”
Spain will be facing Portugal on June 27th 2012.
