Peeping into the tales of 2010 F1 season… (Part 2
In 2009 the Brawn GP driver Jenson Button was too clever to let anybody come in the way of his success, right from the start of the season. He bagged victory in six out of the first seven races and secured the title. Once again, Alonso was not able to give
a real head to head fight. After another lulled year, Alonso finally brushed the dust off his fans’ memory, reminding them once again that he is a great racer, capable of winning.
By the mid 2010 season, the Italian squad came up with some very effective modifications in the car. Alonso quickly jumped forward to grab the opportunity and got back in the title battle, once again. From his initial fifth place, he strived hard to get
to the top of the points’ tally. As the caravan of cars entered the last and the final round of the season, Alonso only needed to finish in third place. However, the poor race staretegy of the team prevented him from finishing anywhere above seventh and the
title finally went to Sebastian Vettel.
Despite having lost the title, Alonso has gained a lot. The way he moved up the ladder, made him stand as one of the best racers on the present grid. Above all, he has also secured his seat in Ferrari by blowing away his teammate Felipe Massa and charming
the team with his strength and form.
The Robert Kubica saga
Without having won the championship, a single race or even a pole, the driver has achieved a lot this season. In 2009, the French had a miserable time, ending nowhere better than eighth place in the constructors’ standings and was torn apart by severe scandals.
Many of the Kubica fans thought that the future of a very potential racer is now at stake. Despite having faith in the drivers’ capabilities, Renault’s poor car and team’s crises made everyone believe that he might not be able to shine now.
Well, things never turned the way everyone assumed. Kubica came back strong on the 2010 track and even though he did not have a very competitive car, he was able to stand on the podium three times this season. At some of the rounds he was even very close
to victory leaving behind very competitive cars like Red Bull and Ferrari.
Finally, as the season wrapped up, his fans are surely more than happy for what he has achieved last year. He has produced some of his best driving on the 2010 tracks, has convinced even more people for certain championship wins in the future and has also
secured his seat with (Lotus) Renault for a long time now.
The happy-go-lucky Jenson Button
As the 2010 season started, all the race analysts and experts looked ahead at a very poor season for Button. Many people closer to him warned him for making a wrong choice as he switched to the British team from his Brawn GP team. However, he stayed firm
in his decision and made the move.
McLaren has lately been known as Hamilton’s team, who has enjoyed a hero’s role in the team. They have ruled the hearts and minds of the entire team and a large fan base for a long time now. However, Button has not only been able to enjoy an equal position
in the team but also made a strong bond with his British teammate, Hamilton. Now at the end of the season, the team can easily say that they have the duo as an asset, which will come back next season with renewed form and spirit.
To be continued…
