Pei-Chi Lee outshines Louise Boinay to reach round two – Chang ITF Pro Circuit 2012
Taiwanese challenger, Pei-Chi Lee, rallied past the Swiss contestant, Louise Boinay, in a three-set thriller at the Chang ITF Pro Circuit 2012 on Monday. She summed up a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 victory against the 19-year-old to power into the second round at this
outdoor hard court event taking place in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Taiwanese rising star displayed superb skills and abilities to overpower Boinay in their first encounter. After ruling the match in almost one hour and 45 minutes, Lee comfortably secured a spot in the round of 16 at this ITF (International Tennis Federation)
Women’s Circuit event.
The 18-year-old assertively entered the Rama Garden Sport Complex. After Boinay held her serve in the fourth game, the Taiwanese unleashed her skills and wiped out last four games. She never faced any hindrances and cashed half of the four break chances
to take the initial lead.
Louise counterattacked in the following set. She smoothly held her serves until the eighth game. The Swiss then got the breakthrough and eventually sealed the equaliser by winning six games to four. She cashed the lone break opportunity to get back in contention
and blocked both breakpoints she came across.
Ranked 678th in the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) Premier Rankings, Lee found her early momentum in the final set which counted the most. She drew the first blood in the opening game and took the initial lead. Apart from losing her edge in
the very next game, Lee broke her opponent’s serve again in the third game and jumped to a 4-1 lead. The Taiwanese then held her remaining serves with poise and subsequently clinched the decider with a 6-4 score line. She failed to fend off the only breakpoint
she came across and converted two out of three break chances to her advantage.
Next up for Lee is the winner of the match between eighth seeded Deniz Khazanuk and the Swedish contestant, Matilda Hamlin.
The top seed, Sabina Sharipova, face a bitter reality later that day. She was crashed out by the Japanese challenger, Mana Ayukawa, in brutal straight sets in her opening match.
