  1. It wouldn't even be worth the risk for me personally... she can't wait?  She's only got 13 weeks left!

  2. She probably won't be able to get pierced, I believe that there is a fear of infections.

  3. It won't hurt the baby directly, but typically they won't do any body modifications while you're pregnant because of risk of infection and/or shock to the body.

  4. i dont think your even allowed to get peircings during pregnancy.the reasons because if it does get infected you cant really take anything for it and ya they just dont do it

  5. No matter how safe you are, whenever you have an open wound in your body there is a risk that bacteria may enter the bloodstream.

    http://health.nytimes.com/health/guides/...

Septicemia, blood poisoning, Bacteremia with sepsis:

"Septicemia is the presence of bacteria in the blood (bacteremia) and is often associated with severe disease."

"Septicemia can begin with spiking fevers, chills, rapid breathing, and rapid heart rate. The person looks very ill.  The symptoms rapidly progress to shock with decreased body temperature (hypothermia), falling blood pressure, confusion or other changes in mental status, and blood clotting problems."

Staph (Staphylococcus aureus) is absolutely rampant in the community now and she could easily contract this through the open piercing.

    "Serious staph infections may cause:

    + Cellulitis + Endocarditis + Pneumonia

+ Toxic shock syndrome + Blood poisoning

Organ failure and death may result from untreated MRSA infections."

As you can imagine, if a pregnant woman got bacteria in her bloodstream, her baby could be adversely affected by disease or birth complications and might even die.  I certainly would NOT risk the life of my child by getting a piercing when I could just as well wait a few months until after the baby was born.

  6. it probably wouldn't get infected if she cleaned it well but if it doesn't get infected then it's fine

  7. Good luck finding a piercer who is clean and legal to do this for a pregnant person.  I had to sign a waver when I got my septum pierced last year that stated I wasn't pregnant.  It is just safer to wait until after the baby is here - with the increase in vascular during pregnancy (more blood flow), the weakened immune system during pregnancy, and the risk even if tiny of disease with piercings - can't she just wait the last 2 or 3 months and then get it done?  It will go by faster than she thinks.

  8. It's not worth the risk she puts herself at for getting an infection. Tattoos and piercings are not recommended when you're pregnant. Urge he to wait until after the baby is born. Infection can be life threatening to her unborn baby and it's not worth the risk.

  9. Doctors reccommend that you hold off getting piercings and tattoos while pregnant. It increases the chance of infection for the baby, what may be a tiny infection for mommy could be crucial for baby since their immune system is much weaker and not fully developed. I just think its a risk that is both dumb and risky to take. I would think that she has enough going on for her body during her pregnancy, that she wouldnt want anything else at the moment, but thats me i guess. Im pretty sure that a good Piercer would refuse to do it anyway. i hope she waits, and just basks in the glow of her pregnancy.
