Pelican Rock favourite for Go Racing In Yorkshire Classified Stakes
Pelican Rock is tipped to prevail in the Go Racing In Yorkshire Classified Stakes at Catterick in England on Wednesday, July 4, 2012. The winner of the class-6 event will run away with a cash prize of £2,045.
There are 11 runners scheduled to take part in the 7 furlong race, which is scheduled to start at 16:20 GMT. However, most of them are struggling for form, which makes the situation somewhat uncertain.
Looking at the track, which is good to soft, there is a solid chance for Pelican Rock to bring up another victory in his career. Most of his opponents are searching for their first ever victory in the sport, which will make things easier for Pelican Rock,
who has been giving a general starting price of 9 to 2.
The three-year-old gelding does not have a lot of experience, as he has participated in just a dozen events until now. He first appeared on the scene back in 2011 and was unable to make an impression in his debut race, finishing 14th in it.
Afterwards, the Andrew Crook’s trainee took part in a couple of more races, but failed to deliver good results in them as well. This indicated that he did not have the potential to fight of victories at all. However, he improved his performances in the 2012
season and started producing some consistent results.
Amadeus Wolf’s son out of Darby Shaw won his first ever race at Southwell in March this year. He was given the best odds for winning that time around and lived up to the expectations of everyone, winning by a couple of lengths.
Other than his victory, Pelican Rock has earned three runners up positions and secured the third place on a couple of times, which shows that he is capable of fighting at the front with consistency.
The young runner finished seventh in his most recent run, which was quite discouraging. He was given pretty decent odds back then, but disappointed his fans in the end. He will be partnered by Gary Bartley, who has enjoyed some success at this level and
will be eying a solid show today.
