if i decide to change my classes and i end up dropping below the 12 hour minimum to be considered a full time student, does my pell grant also change, or does it remain the same?

  1. It all depends on YOUR college's financial aid office rule in regards to this question.  Normally if you already received your grant and you fall below the minimum to qualify for it, you will have to pay back the remaining amount.  But if this happenens they will calculate the amount and you will not be able to get and financial assistance until it as been paid to the U. S. Dept. of Education.  If you did have to pay back and refuse to pay or whatever your reason might be, by law that can take the amount owe from you tax returns.  SO I strongly suggest to contact your college financial aid office and go from there.


  2. they already decide how much 2 give u so i dnt think it will change but every school is different.

It depends on when you change your schedule.  If the Pell has already paid at 12 credits and you have been billed at 12 credits, nothing will change when you drop a class.  If you drop the class prior to the Pell being paid it will change based on the number of credits you are actually enrolled for.  

    Check with your school's financial aid office to be certain where you will fall in this category when you make the change.
