Malaga CF coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-c23383 Pellegrini, believes that the Primera Division is far more important than the UEFA Champions League at the moment
Malaga have had an impressive start to their European campaign this season. Their 1-1 draw with the Italian giants, AC Milan at San Siro stadium meant that they have qualified for the second round of the UEFA Champions League with
two matches to spare.
However, recently their form in the domestic league has declined. Last weekend they lost to Rayo Vallecano and as a result of that they have slipped to the 5th position in the table.
“Qualifying for the last 16 was a very important sporting and economic goal. But for us at this time the League is far more important than the Champions League,” insists Pellegrini.
Pellegrini talked about Malaga’s first home defeat to Rayo and has revealed that it was painful loss for them. He admitted that his team were very poor in every department during the game but thinks they will learn from that experience.
However, he thinks his team will rebound from their loss and register a win against their next opponents, Real Sociedad, in front of their home fans.
“Losing hurts, and more so to do it at home against Rayo. It was a very poor game in all aspects.”
The former Real Madrid boss has shared his thoughts on this weekend’s match in La Liga with the struggling side, Real Sociedad and have said that Sociedad have been unlucky so far since they have a good side.
“They have a very good squad, but have had some bad luck. They have been working for several years on the same idea and are very clear.”
Malaga will be relieved with the fact that some of their injured players are returning. Players such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Julio-c19950 Baptista, who hasn’t played for a year, and Jeremy Toulalan have recovered from their injuries.
“Toulalan is a player we really need. His return, and that of Baptista and [Nacho] Monreal are very important to us.”
The Andalusians will be hoping to pick up all three points from their match with Real Sociedad so that they stay close to that coveted fourth spot in the Primera Division.
