After seeing their challenge for UEFA Champions League qualification slots stutter, La Rosaleda-based side registered their third away league win of the season.
Malaga have managed a paltry 11 points from their 13 La Liga away fixtures in the current campaign. With the Spanish top flight season entering its final stretches, the Andalusian side needed points on the road and they managed to do just that.

The coastal club have found the form at the right time, registering two come-from-behind victories on the trot.

In addition to that, the club have scored in all but one of their last eight matches, accumulating 12 important points in the process.
Head-coach, Manuel Pellegrini, was content with the result in Madrid, highlighting the importance of away points in his post-match press conference.

Pellegrini pointed out Malaga’s woeful away record in the current campaign and stated that the result is morale boosting.
“We needed these points after many away defeats, some of which have been just unlucky.”
“(The win) was very important because the team hasn’t had an away win in a while. It’s a morale boost. We knew that we were playing for our European aspirations and it turned out to be a difficult match, but we knew what we had to do in the second
half,” the former Villarreal man said
Reflecting on the details of La Liga fixture, the Chilean tactician praised the players for their impressive second-half performance after a plucky first period.
“We didn’t have a good first half, we were indecisive, but in the second half we had better shape and went head-first into the game. All the three goals were good ones and we had more clear scoring chances.”
In their next La Liga encounter, Malaga take on the challenge of surprise-packages, Levante, at La Rosaleda as the battle for UEFA Champions League position heats up.
