Malaga CF coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-c23383 Pellegrini, has distanced himself from the rumours suggesting he could replace Massimiliano Allegri who has recently been under fire.
Pellegrini is not paying any attention to the rumours linking him to the Italian giants, AC Milan. Instead he was quick to praise his team for their performance after qualifying for the second round of the UEFA Champions League.
AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri has been feeling the heat for quite some time now since his Milan side have been struggling lately in all competitions.
Some have reported Allegri could face the axe soon and the Chilean coach is one of his potential replacement.
However, Pellegrini was quick to dismiss all the assertions and has stated that his focus is just on the Andalusians.
"I want to do well at Malaga."
The Malaga boss is a bit concerned with his team's recent form in the Primera Division and revealed his intention is to put the team to a better standing so that they can qualify for the Champions League next season.
The coach also admitted that they need to be focused and keep their eyes on this European campaign too.
"I want to get back up the Liga table where we are in eighth place, as to play in the Champions League next season too we have to do well domestically.”
The former Real Madrid boss stated how important it was for his team to qualify for the last 16 and was also happy they managed to secure their progression against a great team in a great stadium.
"It was important to achieve qualification tonight and especially in such a world famous stadium against a great team.”
The 59-year old revealed how their plan for the match worked out and how his players stood up to the occasion.
"We spoke with the players and decided it was best to score the goal in the first half, then after the break we controlled well until Pato’s goal.
"Milan were able to control the tempo of the game, but they did not create that many opportunities."
Malaga have qualified for the second of the Champions League for the first time in their history.
