The Chilean coach claimed that UEFA Champions League is not their top priority and failure to qualify for prestigious event will not be an Earth shattering situation for them.

He stated that La Rosaleda based side are flying high at the moment and their qualification for the prestigious European competition for the first time in the history of the club should not mean they will be qualifying for it every year.
Pellegrini stated that it would be a mistake to think on these lines as Malaga still has to go a long way before becoming regular European competition contenders.
Furthermore, the former Real Madrid manager revealed that Los Boquerones have a five year plan in place and are currently ahead of the target they set for themselves at the end of their first two years.
Pellegrini remarked that Malaga want to become a major force in European and Spanish competitions at the end of the stipulated time period and have a progressive future in front of them after upstaging the likes of Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao
to UEFA Champions League qualification.
"There is a clear plan to 5 years for the Malaga is a major club in Europe and in the Spanish league. Football growth has been higher than expected. Year been left out of Champions at the likes of Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and Athletic. A club that has been
growing for some time has to be progressing in every way. "
While responding to questions about prospective additions to La Rosaleda dressing room, Pellegrini revealed that Malaga are in no rush to complete their squad as they have the whole month of July to add finishing touches to their roster.
“We have the whole month of July to complete the campus and a reasonable period of up to three weeks to start the league. We will try to incorporate people who complete the basis that it did last year.”
Malaga finished fourth in La Liga at the culmination of the 2011/12 Spanish top flight domestic season, their highest after their 11th placed finish the preceding year.
