Manuel Pellegrini was in full awe for his side after the Andalusians smashed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 at the Rosaleda.
Malaga coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-c23383 Pellegrini, was joyous at his players’ efforts after they managed to bring an end to a 4-game winless run and that too, in an emphatic manner.
Things went so well for the Andalusian side that the wily tactician even went on to claim that he felt regrets over his side’s inability to score more goals.
Malaga were going through a tricky patch of their own, as they had failed to register a win in their last 4 outings in the league. However, Pellegrini’s men put their recent woes behind them as they mastered a classy performance against a form recovering
Valencia side.
The match saw two rivals come head to head for a contention for the Champion’s League spot and Malaga got the result that they desperately needed, not only stamping their mark but also doing it in a tremendous manner.
Malaga coach Pellegrini admitted that the performance of the team was their best piece of football so far in the season, also describing the team’s win against Zenit on equal merit.
“The important thing was to resume football. The team played a spectacular match, moving the ball well. It was a complete performance for 90 minutes. Beforehand there was concern, as we felt like we weren’t playing how we wanted to play.”
Pellegrini stated that he was content with the players’ efforts, however, the score line could have been even bigger than the 4-0 figures and it was a sly regret.
“It was perhaps our best performance, along with [the 3-0 win over] Zenit St Petersburg and the score could even have been wider.”
The Malaga coach was happy that his side resumed playing the football that he had liked them to play and wanted to build on the performance in the league.
“The team recovered what we were doing earlier,” the ex-Villarreal boss reflected in conversation with reporters.
The result has seen Malaga claim 4th spot in the league, equal on points with Real Betis, who earlier defeated Real Madrid to dent the current champion’s title hopes.
