Valencia boss, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mauricio-c24899 Pellegrino, believes that his team were the better side but blamed mistakes and missed chances for their 1-0 away loss to derby rivals, Levante.
As expected, the match between Valencia and Levante started with a quick tempo and Valencia were the side that created some of the early chances in the game.
Los Che dominated the game for much of the first half,  but they just could not take advantage of their chances and found it difficult to penetrate Levante’s well-organized back line .
Soon, Valencia were seen conceding a goal against the run of play as a stunner from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Obafemi-Martins-c28273 gave Levante the lead during the 22nd minute.
“I think that the first half belonged to us, but we did not convert our chances and they took advantage of theirs,” Pellegrino admitted after the game.
As valencia were unable to capitalize on their chances, Levante were seen retreating to the back line as they locked their defence system and Valencia just could not crack Levante's defensive walls and were left frustrated till the end of the game.
“After the goal, the game was played as Levante wanted it and we made mistakes. My team failed to break through the difficulties encountered.”
On top of that, Valencia made mistakes that they simply could not afford especially in a difficult away derby game like this and Pellegrino recognised it.
After the second half, Valencia tried to get  back into the game but it seemed that their fate was sealed for the day as they came back empty handed.
“What happened is that we made a mistake as we had in Mallorca and it cost us dearly.”
Reflecting on their painful loss, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vicente-Guaita-c36003, admitted that it is unbearable to see his team lose to derby rivals, Levante.
“I’m hurt. Losing in the field to rivals of Valencia hurts more,” he lamented  afterwards.
Levante’s win against their derby rivals,Valencia, means that they have leapfrogged them in La Liga points table at the moment.
Valencia will host Athletic Bilbao at Estadio Mestalla on October 20th.
