Penalty kick question?

I'm a goalie and we scrimaged this team today.

My teammate fouled the girl, I did see that.

The ref goes over to me and says its a pk(penality kick) so I say "okay"

he tells me I can't move off the goal line. that i can't move around or go across. i had to stay in that specific spot until the ball was kicked.

luckily, i have no idea how but i saved the goal. after the game though, i went to my coach and he told me that the reff was wrong.

So who's right?

The ref and your coach is right in different ways.

You can't move off the goal line, but you're allowed to move along the goal line(side to side/left to right). Just as the player just kicks the ball you can move off your goal line to save the ball.

Just go with the flow.  If there is a penalty kick, you must go for it.

Sorry, but the ref was right. You cannot move until the player touches the ball.
