to use mechanical pencils, or wood pencils?

I haven't really thought of this before, but it crossed my mind today. What is more environmentally friendly? I can't really come up with an answer, it seems like it could be double-sided.

  1. wood it is a renewable source and it is also biodegradable. the mechanical plastic things are just more c**p in land fills

  2. mechanical pencils, they dont have ot cut down a tree

  3. I go with woodcase pencils which will biodegrade when finished and are made from trees which can be replaced.

Papermate makes a line of wood pencils called EarthWrite that are made from recycled wood.  I use these a lot.

  4. great question

it depends on how many you use. if you go through many pencils a day, id say mechaical, because your only replacing the lead.

however, if you didnt use them as much, id say go with wood. less plastic!

  5. doesn't matter use either one.

  6. chalk & eraseable black boards like they used up until 50 years ago.

chalk & slate are natural, consume no electricity & last forever.
