what does it mean when they say my amended refund is pending?

It means a clerk at the IRS service center entered the change. If they made no errors, the computer will release the check in 3 weeks.

The request for change has ben received, data is in system. If all is in order, the the refund will be transmitted with 10 days. You can check status in link below:
