Peng Soon Chan – Liu Ying Goh steal limelight by winning Mixed Doubles title at Japan Open 2012
Malaysia’s top Mixed Doubles players Peng Soon Chan and Liu Ying Goh proved their mettle on court and stole the limelight as they claimed their first ever Super Series title by winning the Yonex Japan Open 2012.
In the final encounter, Peng Soon and Liu Ying proved their worth and defeated the fifth seeded Muhammad Rijal and Liliyana Natsir of Indonesia on Sunday, September 23, in Japan.
The World Number Seven Peng Soon and Liu Ying proved their supremacy on court as they delivered a spectacular performance and remained successful in winning the final battle in a dominating fashion.
Peng Soon and Liu Ying showed their aggression on court and they did not spare any chance for their Indonesian opponents in the title battle and ended it up in straight games by taking just 33 minutes on court.
After winning the battle Peng Soon said, “I’m really happy right now for creating history. This is a great result for me and Liu Ying and it will certainly motivate us to work harder and achieve even better results in future.”
The Indonesian players could not live up to the expectations as they failed to push their Malaysian rivals on back foot and eventually lost the battle in two games without proving their worth on court.
The opening game was completely stunning for the Indonesian players as Peng Soon and Liu Ying played to their maximum potential and remained successful in taking an 11-7 lead until the break.
After the interval, Peng Soon and Liu Ying continued showing their impressive play without letting the Indonesia couple to fight back in the game.
The Malaysian players took the first game with a crushing 21-12 score on the board.
In the second game, Peng Soon and Liu Ying failed to take a reasonable lead as their opponents also gave a good fight and the score remained close until the break.
After the interval, both couples continued showing their aggression on court without dropping their speed and the score reached at the concluding phase in a tight fashion.
At this crucial stage, Peng Soon and Liu Ying showed their brilliance and took the final points to end up the set with a 21-19 score on the board.
Peng Soon and Liu Ying won this Mixed Doubles final battle in straight games with a reasonable score of 21-12 and 21-19.
