Question:

Penguins let Flyers win?

I am a HUGE Flyers fan and will say I am a little upset right now. But me and my hubby (as much as we love the Flyers) think the Pens let the Flyers take the game on Thursday so Pens could win at home? Do you agree?

  1. Sorry, but you and hubby aren't even in the ball park on this one.  The Flyers came out and played a very good game in game 4 and the Penguins didn't bring their A game.  The same thing happened in game 5 but the other way around.

  2. I doubt it. More likely that the refs, on orders from the nhl,  "helped" the flyers, so they could get more tv money from an extra game.

  3. No..What better way for the Pens then to sweep there biggest rival on Flyers ice?

  4. Absolute nonsense... the Flyers came close to losing game 4

ill say this again...Terrian would not have pulled Maf if he wanted to lose. Nor would he have put Crosby out on that last shift. look how close that came to disaster. what if Richards not only beat the c**p out him but got hurt in the process?

not to mention what if it backfired and gave the Flyers momentem and they win the series?  Na they just lost that one

I do Believe that the Pens did not care about wining the last game of the year. and that they did throw it.  and it was a smart move by Terrian. thats why they are coaches and we are but mere fans. the Pens might not be here if they played the Flyers in the first rd

  5. No, the Flyers wanted game 4 more than the Pens did, and it showed.

And it's ridiculous how some Flyers fans think the Pens throw games...like how they lost the last game of the regular season to avoid the Flyers in the first round, and now this.

Must suck to be a Flyer fan, since instead of rooting for your team win or lose, you have to look for conspiracies.  "The Pens threw the game"..."the refs aren't calling the dives"..."the league wants Crosby to win the cup"...it's so childish.

The Flyers were totally outclassed in this last series.  But they were desperate in game 4, so that's why they won.

  6. I disagree. I admit the Penguins played TERRIBLE in the first period. They looked better in the second though. I think it was a case where the Penguins let it get in their head that they were up 3-0 and only needed to win one game. I think the Flyers realized they were down 0-3 and they NEEDED to win. I realize some would rather win at home but I don't think a team would ever let the other team win just so they could go home. If you do that you run the risk the other team will come back. I think after seeing the Red Wings lose the Penguins game out a little desperate in game 5. Therrian probably convinced them to treat this as game 7, because it basically was. If they lost this they would have to go back to Philly and have a less chance winning, and you don't won't to go home for game 7 when the other team just tied the series.

  7. sorry i disagree.

my team was one of the victim to crysby and the pens. sorry to say this but when a team has a chance to go for the kill, just do it. Pens were thinking the same (go for the series win) because when you gave another team another day to fight, it may come back to bite them.

  8. h**l yeah! I said the exact thing and bells ring in my head when teams who are ahead 3-0 in the series and totally dominant in the series, but for some reason they buckle in game 4 on the road "wink wink". Its all about economics, obvious reason to give away game 4 and go back home and finish them off there is that Penguins, and any other sports team who plays this strategy is that the team makes tons of money for playing another game at home. Think about it , almost 20,000 people, at least $250 a person for tickets, profits gained from parking fees, selling of food and merchandise, all the profits from that is worth giving away 1 game. If you look at the Thursday night game, when Pens scored the two goals, they weren't even trying to score and they scored anyways, thats how pathetic Flyers were...and yesterday's game shows you what happens when Pens play for real. When you have a team like Penguins playing against semi-professionals, as a manager and higher ups in the organization, you quickly gain confidence of your team that even if you were to give away one game, you know your team will come back to spank them...which is what we all witnessed yesterday.

  9. NO Because the Penguins actually had an off Night it rare to see them lose.

  10. No

  11. Absolutely not.... listen, no offense, but that would be stupid for so many reasons.

  12. No way. ABSOLUTELY NOT. I was at that game, and though the Penguins did not have their best game, they still gave it a solid effort. Remember that they were close to tiing that game up in the third, if they wanted to lose, they could have just let the score stand at the 3-0 after the first. The Penguins want to advance in any way possible, it does not matter if it as home or away. They would GLADLY win the cup on the road if the opportunity presents itself, TRUST ME...

  13. Are you calling out the pride and integrity of NHLers?  If that is the case then I have lost all respect for the NHL.  To me, this is worse than Donaghy.  I am far from being a Pens fan, and was happy they lost, but I can't believe for one min that they would intentionally tank a game.  Not only is it not fair to the paying fans, it is below Busch League.

  14. Its people like you that also said they lost the last game of the regular season so they didn't have to play the Flyers in the first round.  Either way they smoked them and that is that.

  15. i disagree. the penguins were so sure they were going to win so they didn't play there best.
