It’s not a clear-cut match. Pennetta has been playing to the standard we’d expect, but Safarova has performed above expectations so far, with defeats of Francesca Schiavone and Shahar Peer in her previous two matches here. The head-to-heads provide no guide either – Safarova leads 1-0 but that match was played back in 2006. My guess is Penetta in three sets.
