i live in pennsylvania and there is street parking at my house. my neighbors have a bunch of cars and always put stuff (chairs, trash cans, etc.) on the road along side the curb to save parking spots right in front of my house leaving no parking for anyone else. isn't that illegal? can i call the authorities and have them put a stop to that? or is that something i will have to handle myself and start a "parking war" with my neighbors.

  1. This is completely illegal and you should contact your city manager as well as getting on file at the police department....

  2. no the street is for everyone. you need to just get out , throw their c**p on their lawn, then park your car.

  3. Move the c**p and park in front of your house. Take the chairs inside when you do. When you get a collection of them take them to Goodwill

  4. They do not have the right to block off public parking. The street is public domain, anyone can park there. Feel free to move their junk and park your car in front of your house. Or call the Police and have them remove it. I'm in eastern Pa. People do this around here when they shovel out a parking spot after a snowstorm. My town makes it known that they will go around with the garbage truck and collect anything that is on the street. Sounds like you have real winners for neighbors.

  5. It is illegal, and depending on your municipality there are varying rules that apply.

Some townships in PA actually remove and cite offenders. Some townships turn a blind eye to this behavior. Check with your local PD for clarification.

Here in PGH it is illegal, but nobody follows the law here anyway so nothing gets done about it.
