Penske Racing’s Brad Keselowski loses hopes after final restart at Martinsville – NASCAR news
Penske Racing driver Brad Keselowski lost his title hopes since the last restart in the Tums Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville.
The Miller Lite Dodge driver has always been left unconsidered in the count of strong title contenders for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship.
Keselowski said, “That's racing on these short tracks. It will come back around for [our] team. We got some good racing in the middle section of the race, got good lanes that we needed, but at the end we just didn't catch a break. That's just this style
of racing.”
Coming to the last numbers of cautions, he was stuck in the slower outer lane. While taking the final restart of the race he headed into a spin and lost all the positions that he had worked on.
His strong effort that took him as higher to the second position in the race. He lost every bit of it when he dropped to 17th place in the field.
Keselowski said that even the car was good, the track was complementing and the team also had a good plan but no one can control the fate.
He was short of few laps that could have gained him to lead in the race. Even though the car had the potential to take a place in top ten slots but the odds were against him.
Keselowski’s crew chief Paul Wolfe said, “It was definitely a tough day. We weren't where we needed to be at the beginning. Everybody worked really hard. I was proud of the effort. We kept adjusting on the car. Brad stayed out of trouble and we put ourselves
in a position to do what we needed to do, and that's gain points on [Edwards].”
The crew chief claimed it to be a frustrating day after a lot of hard work and improving the car. Wolfe added that now the team has to work even harder to get things straight.
After the Martinsville event, Carl Edwards has gained a significant lead. Recently, Edwards has been favoured by many things, in fact almost everything.
Let’s see how they fare in the remainder of the 2011 season.
