Pentangular Cup Update- Punjab v Federal Areas: Umair Khan shines in a rain affected draw
A third round fixture of the Faysal Bank Pentangular Cup 2010-11 between Punjab and the Federal Areas ended in a draw as the match was heavily affected by rain in Lahore.
It was a dead rubber match, but the Federal Areas succeeded in getting three important points after gaining the first innings lead against the home team. Star of the show for Federal Areas was the left handed opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umair-Khan-c94586 who scored a century and a

At the Lahore City Cricket Association ground (LCCA), Test cricketer and captain of the Federal Areas http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bazid-Khan-c47523 won the toss and elected to bat first on a typical batting track of LCCA. Initially, it did not turn out to be a great decision as Federal Areas
lost their top four batsmen with only 108 runs on the board, however Umair Khan combined with the late order of his team and made sure that Federal Areas post a competitive score of 361 runs in their first innings.
Umair remained the top scorer for Federal Areas as he struck a superb ton. He scored 133 runs off 296 balls with the help of 18 boundaries. All-rounders http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Syed-Imad-Wasim-c92287 and Hammad Azam scored important 40s to support Umair.

After getting the first innings lead, Federal Areas was full of confidence and that reflected in their second innings as they scored 133 runs for the loss of two wickets before the play was called off without a result.
Umair Khan and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Amin-c94597 remained unbeaten after completing their half-centuries. Mohammad Khalil and Asada Ali picked up a wicket each in the second innings of Federal Areas.
Although the match was heavily disrupted by rain but it was a great outing for Umair Khan who proved once again that he has a solid technique. He has been a consistent performer in the domestic cricket of Pakistan and has been representing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 ‘A’ since
