Ok this is a little bit confusing. i took some images as RAW on a camera and i then copied it to a mac computer. i tried to open it with iphoto and photoshop but they wouldnt open. The funny thing is, another girl was able to open these same photos on a different computer.

Also , even though i couldnt see the photos, i put them on my memory stick. i put this memory stick in my windows computer at home and they wont open. They show has a PEF file and it says its 0kb

So my questions are: How do i view them on a Mac??

and Why can't i see them on my windows and why are they saying they are 0kb?

  1. If your Mac has the latest version of 10.5 the PEF files should work with iPhoto and Preview. Try the Pentax Photolab that came with your cameras CD, it is kind of a clunky software but it will read and convert the PEF files with your Mac. Another would be to convert them to DNG using Adobes converter and see if iPhoto or Preview will work with them, I wouldn't know if this would work because my Mac is still on 10.4.11. It could also be a bug with OS X if it has to do something with color space.

Have you updated OS X to the latest version? That may or may not help you.

  2. I don't know why they say 0kb, unless they copied wrong. but RAW files (from any camera) require some type of RAW convertor. Photoshop CS3 should work or Pentax PhotoBrowser (off the CD that came with camera or download of pentaxusa.com). You can also switch any Pentax K series DSLR (K100. K10, K20, etc) to shoot in DNG RAW (Adobe RAW) and your version of PS will read it fine.
