Question:

Pentecostals and skirts?

I'm a Baptist but I want to start going to a Pentecostal church and convert to the Pentecostal religion because I haven't ever really felt anything at my church, and I went to my friends church (she's Pentecostal) and I felt so much there! The thing is, I'm not used to wearing skirts. I'll wear them to church voluntarily and during some days of the week, but I still like my pants. Is it ok for me to wear skirts AND pants?

  1. I wear pants at a pentecostal church.....It helps when I  am slain in the spirit (ha ha)

There is no rule that you can't wear pants if you are a female!

  2. Short skirts hons. works for me !!

  3. I am a pentecostal and believe that women should always wear skirts.  The decision is up to you though.  Many pentecostal churches allow women to wear pants although I do think it would be better to wear skirts.  It says in the Bible that it will not be easy for christians.  It you dress like the rest of the world, how does that make it hard?  It also says that we are to be the light of the world.  If you look (by the way you're dressed) like the rest of the world how will someone know you're a christian?  At a first glance, someone will not be able to tell that you're a christian.  My suggestion is that you always wear skirts.  It may be hard at first, but you'll get used to them eventually.  May God bless you.

  4. it's good to see the religious people around here are focused on the important issues

  5. Do you not realize that Baptist and Pentecostal are the SAME religion?  Christianity?  They are just different denominations.

Pentecostals do tend to have a little more enthusiasm in the church though.

As far as the clothes.... wear what you want to wear and they don't accept you as you are, you don't belong there.

  6. Skirt AND pants?  You might as well go full-on Muslim, with that attitude.  Try a Burkha.

  7. Wearing skirts AND pants at the same time when attending that church is going to make you look rather strange.

But I suppose it will keep you in compliance and nobody will ask you to leave the service.

  8. Just join the Atheati, we like it when you wear no pants at all.

  9. Run from legalism. Run like the wind. Run baby run.

  10. I've been going to a pentecostal church for a little more than a year now.

When I first starting attending I would also change on and off from skirts and pants. I would wear a skirt to church than immediately change into pants. Yes, it is okay to do this. I did this for months until I had the conviction to give up pants all together.

A conviction is something between you and God. I prayed about this and God lead to me an answer. I've been wearing a skirt ever since. I've found my skirts to be very comfortable and they hide my curves nicely. I have more skirts now than I ever did with jeans or pants.

Take this concern to God and he shall lead you to the right decision.

Good luck on your journey! God Bless!

  11. my mom's friend is a pentecostal and wears slacks all the time.  She used to wear skirts but in her job it is not practical.  Her minister's wife started wearing slacks too.

  12. i am pentecostal and we wear what we want as long as we r covered where we should be covered- we believe come as u r -and if u dress in a way to attract the opposite s*x that will soon change when u learn u r there to please the lord and live for him-god bless u

  13. If your church dictates what you are required to wear, it obviously is more interested in controlling your thoughts and your appearance then it is in offering you spiritual guidance.

The Pentecostal Churches are among the worst! They are demonstrative and ignorant and cannot be considered an example of true Christianity.

If, however, you still wish to attend all you have to do is offer the preacher more money and I am sure he will allow you to attend naked if you wish to.

  14. I grew up Pentecostal and some churches allow you to wear pants all the time. It depends which church you go to.

  15. Yes it is ok to wear skirts and pants. It is a matter of your heart, not legalism. If you were to never wear pants again, and yet desire to do so, it would be the same as if you were wearing them.

Also, not all Pentecostal churches require their ladies to wear skirts. My cousil to you is to allow the Holy Spirit to guide you in this matter, not church "styles".

  16. I used to be catholic and Ive been a pentecostal for like 2 years now. I am still trying to figure out the whole skirt thing as well..

All I can say is that its gotta be a personal thing.. I have never really felt any conviction about it. I like wearing skirts, just not 24/7.

Most the girls I know that do wear them 24/7 have grown up in the church their entire lives, or from a very young age.

But I know what you mean about the services! The first time I ever went I just had this overwhelming peace and I knew the Lord was there =]

I've never been to a Baptist church before tho, I heard they want you to "accept Jesus in your heart" is that true??

Geez, Im sorry Lime Kitty... We dont have to keep asking the same questions you see on here everyday.

  17. yes it is...god doesn't care if u wear pants or a skirt...I know that most of the ladies will tell u differently. But till u feel that god is telling u to stop wearing pants. don't a church group tell u what u have to wear to feel god...

  18. Pentecostal, at least for me, is very much the same as Baptist. I would consider myself a Baptist (that's all I've ever known) but I prefer to go to a Pentecostal church as it's just a nicer place to be. The atmosphere is more lively and upbeat (maybe because my Baptist church is mainly OAPs!)

We wear whatever we want. The minister's wife wears trousers, don't think she's much of a skirt person.

Many people "fall into the spirit" at my church so skirts aren't really that practical, you may end up with your underwear showing!

I've never heard of the "skirt" rule! In fact, I can probably only think of about two ladies at my church who wear them! (and they're over 50!)
