Peopl Asking Stuff About Magic and Such on a Mythology board?

Question

Isn't this thread supposed to be for Mythology and Folklore only? Not asking for psychic predictions or how to develop super powers?

It's fine if you want to ask those things, but this really isn't the thread to do so. But, it IS the closest we can find to the thread needed.

So my question is: why doesn't Yahoo! Answers staff make a new category like Magic and Powers since so many people are asking those types of questions?

Just curious. I'm thinking of sending a request to do such a thing. I just wanted your guy's opinion on it first.

Actually - magical practices do fit into folklore as they are beliefs, customs/traditions, and skills that have been passed down through generations.

As far as psychic questions go, I agree they don't belong under M&F, but yet they really don't belong under the paranormal section either (though all the questions about ghosts and ouija boards could go to the more appropriate section of paranormal phenomena!) - there really is no fitting category in Y!A for all the psychic questions (which I think are really silly anyway - why come here to ask psychic questions?  Why not go see a psychic if that's what you're looking for?)

The ones that really get me are the ones from people who literally want to be turned into a mythological being (mermaids & vampires are the most common - and it's usually because of some television show they've watched.)  Could we get these people a "I don't know the difference between fictional entertainment and reality" category and make them all go there?

While you're at it, have them move Religion to Mythology where it belongs.

Perhaps that may be true. However if you post that on let's say R/S you will get lots of rude answers from those who do not have a belief that such things are possible. Myself I have no need for psychic help because I try just to help myself and sometimes others with my meager talents, but some folks need to get advice and prefer to ask their questions of PSYCHICS rather than count on common sense. I post most of my questions here because I find that the folks who here are intelligent and open to most any sort of situation without being rude. Sort of a community within a community.
