Too many to list - Middlesex, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Corrections, The Art of Happiness, anything by Armisted Maupin, The Road Less Travelled, Kitchen Confidential.

The book The shadow club by: Neal Shusterman is good though.



EDIT:  Kimberly M Member is right on one thing, you might want to start reading manga. Life by: Keiko Suenobu is a good one to start with.
