  1. Ha ha that's funny.  My car is sitting outside missing a radiator (well I have one just need to pay to have it installed) and my husband needs to have his brakes done and a tune up but instead \we bought our son some new clothes and some of his favorite munchies yesterday!

Some people have their priorities mixed up or shouldn't have children or don't understand what it means to be parents.

A car is just a tool not a family member

  2. No, people are willing to pay more for their cars than fund a virtually useless public education system. Also, some people just can't afford to pay for childcare because they HAVE to pay for their cars.

It's ridiculous to suggest that people care more for inanimate objects than they do for their children. If you cannot afford children, perhaps you should hold off.

  3. hi patois

this is the strangeness of life. there is no responsibilty in such case.

  4. baby boomer value's. Everyone wants the shiny new thing.

To call it western civilization's value system is far fetched.

If this current trend continue's it will be a new civilization.

           A glutton's paradise I suppose...

  5. For many their vehicles are essential to earn a living without which you and the kids would be hungry and homeless.

    First things first dear.

  6. they don't care about the enviroment

  7. Hey when I was doing paternity defense this one guy brought in his "budget" that showed he only had $35.00 a month left to pay for child support.   The judge was not amused that he had a $300 car payment and had down $275 for dog care.    The judge asked him what he fed the dog - because according to his wife they didn't spend that to feed themselves.    The judge said get a cheaper car and get rid of the dog cause your paying $200 a month and 40% of the child care.

  8. its disgusting.

  9. I don't know how much child care costs, but you make a good point.  But, without the car people couldn't work, and the car - a large car-mini-van  - is, in a way. for the children and taking them places.

Certainly there are people with very expensive fancy cars that cost more per month than their nanny's salary.

There is a great undervaluing of child care and children.  There are many psychological problems that stem from childhood - such as antisocial personality disorder (sociopathy) - that if not treated before the age of 18 are virtually incurable, and society at large pays the price for the damage that these children/people do.

I believe nannies, schools and childcare centers CAN do a good job helping to raise children, but you certainly get what you pay for.

  10. What do  you mean by "child care"?  Do you mean like daycare or babysitter?  If they aren't USING a daycare or babysitter, of course they are going to be paying more for their mode of transportation.  If you mean all costs involved in raising a child, I think you may be a bit mistaken.  You have to feed, clothe, house, insure, entertain, and educate a child(and in all that, I would hazard a guess and say that mode of transportation can also be factored into part of the cost of the child rearing process), and that is probably more expensive then paying for the insurance, payment, and general upkeep of a car.   If the child isn't being neglected in any way, and the person is able to spend more for their car, what's the problem?  If the child is well fed, well clothed, healthy/has proper health care provided for him/her, is well entertained and able to do what they want in terms of extracurricular activities, and is well educated, why judge?

  11. If it costs 300 monetary units to eat a month, and you can eat healthy for that cost...would you spend 2000 on a private chef?

But yes, to some extent I agree with you...a private tutor for your children would be a far better investment than the newest SUV.

  12. Some people place little value in their children. I, however,  trust a very limited number of people to care for my children. Quite honestly, I find the care offered by most providers to be lacking compared to the care a child should receive from his/her parents. No one has a more vested interest in the well being of my children than myself and their father.

I would  let my 13 year old neighbor borrow my car before I would trust her to watch my children.

  13. I don't see the problem here, whats the problem?

Cars are usefull and have resale value, children are expensive and cannot be classified as an income generating asset, they also consume a lot of time, energy and money, and have no resale value.

  14. I see it as being sad that some people care more for inanimate objects than they care about other people. No wonder loneliness and isolation are so rampant in our society today.

  15. they pay more to care for their pets than their children, sadly in this materialistic society of ours many children today take the back seat. lol

  16. I've always wondered about this myself.  Women are always saying that they don't want to stay at home with their children because it's boring etc, yet they expect someone else to be happy to look after them and not be bored, and do it for peanuts.  it has always struck me as very curious.  If you are going to expect someone else to do the mind-numbingly boring job of looking after your children, why would you not expect to pay handsomely for it?

  17. Kids you can make for nothing and its fun making them.

Cars cost an arm and a leg

  18. It's really so sad!

  19. This is a LOADED question, thus placing me in a defensive posture.  I don't accpet the premise of the question, thus I can't offer a reasonable answer

I'm not willing to pay more for my car than my child, therefore I can't accept this question as something I can respond to, reasonably.
